I remember this episode from Season 4 of Bones where Temperance Brennan says that she wants to have a child and would like to have her partner, Seeley Booth be the sperm donor because of his superior genetic traits.  I could totally relate to her thinking of wanting to have a child even if she was not in a relationship (to pass on the good genes, if there are any in my case).  There have been moments that I had considered that myself. Well, until I found out how much it would cost anyway.

My work friends and I were talking about that when one of them mentioned that there have been rumors that popular male celebrities have donated their sperm to local sperm banks for those who would are considering artificial insemination.  Wouldn’t that make fans crazy if that were true?  I can imagine all those single women lining up to pay top money to have a child from their favorite male stars.

Turns out that buying sperm could cost between P100,000.00 – 400,000.00 and that’s just for the sperm alone.  The procedure, which from what we’re aware of is only done in two places here the country, would cost extra.  Wow.  To think that you’re not even assured that you’d get pregnant even if you did that!  I joked that I would rather stalk and get the male celeb drunk enough to get me pregnant than pay that much money for the genetically superior sperm.  Hmmm, or maybe I could just ask my (genetically superior) ex for some?  Probably not though, that’s just too complicated.

I’d love to be a mom one day though.  I hope that it happens.
